Privacy

This page explains what we collect when you use Gilded Mantel, why, who helps us, and how long we keep it. The short version: we use your photos only to paint your pet, we delete everything after 30 days, and we never use your photos to train AI.

What we collect

• Your pet's photos, name and type. You send these so we can paint the portraits. If a person appears in a photo, we only use it as a reference for your pet.
• The portraits and cards we make for you.
• Your email address and payment details when you buy. Payment is handled by Stripe, so we never see your card number.
• Your email address, if you join the waiting list. We use it only to tell you when we open and when the last posting date is coming. Reply to any of those emails and we'll remove you.
• A device cookie and a scrambled version of your internet address. We use these only to limit free previews to one per device and stop abuse. We can't work out your address from the scrambled version.

Why we use it

• To paint your portraits and deliver them, because that's what you asked us to do (performing our contract with you).
• To prevent abuse of the free preview, which is in our legitimate interests and yours.
• To keep records of sales, because the law requires it.

We don't sell your data, we don't use it for advertising, and we never use your photos or portraits to train AI.

Who helps us

These companies process data for us under contracts that require them to keep it safe:

• xAI (Grok Imagine) and Google (Gemini) create the artwork from your photos. Google also runs a quick automatic check that each photo shows a pet and nothing unsuitable. We use their paid business services, and we don't allow your photos to be used to train their models.
• Stripe takes payments and handles tax as the seller of record.
• Cloudflare stores photos and portraits (in the EU) and delivers our website.
• Railway runs our website and database.

Some of these companies are based in the United States. Where your data leaves the UK, it's protected by the UK's approved transfer safeguards.

How long we keep it

We automatically delete your photos, portraits, cards and order details 30 days after you place your order. Sales records that the law requires us to keep (such as the amount and date) are kept by Stripe for as long as tax law requires.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete it sooner. Email hello@gildedmantel.com and we'll reply within a month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

We use one cookie, to remember that a device has had its free preview. It doesn't track you across other websites. We don't use advertising or analytics cookies.
